As we approach the end of June, demand for Asia–UK services continues to build, with carriers actively managing capacity into July. With space tight across several shipping lanes, we’re now seeing delays of a few days on schedules from Asia into Europe and the UK.
Asia–UK Demand Creeping Up as Capacity Remains Tight
Pressure on Asia–UK services is increasing again as we head into July, with demand for European-bound cargo continuing to rise. While container availability has now stabilised, helped by the successful repositioning of empty boxes back into China from Europe, space remains tight.
Several blank sailings have been announced for July, with carriers continuing to manage capacity closely. As a result, some vessels are running a few days behind schedule from Asia into Europe and the UK, largely due to high demand across multiple trade lanes.
US Demand High, But the Surge Has Eased
Demand across the transpacific remains high, but the intensity of bookings has eased now that the window to beat the anticipated tariff deadline has passed. Many US retailers have already moved their shipments forward, which has helped to ease some of the recent strain on capacity.
Talks between the US and China are still ongoing, and while a resolution is yet to be reached, the market appears to be cautiously and optimistically awaiting the outcome.
