Work on our new head office and warehouse is continuing at pace, with both the warehouse and office areas taking shape and significant progress being made throughout the site. The development, located next to our existing Witham facility, represents an important milestone for the business as we prepare for the next stage of our growth.
Advancing the Warehouse
The new warehouse space is now fully racked, including the installation of Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) racking and the accompanying wire guidance. Our shuttle racking system has also been completed and commissioned, with our warehouse operatives already trained on its use.
We have also taken delivery of a brand-new fleet of lithium-ion materials handling equipment, including VNA trucks, reach trucks, counterbalances and powered pallet trucks. Familiarisation sessions are underway, and charging systems are already in place. With internal white lining completed and statutory signage soon to follow, the warehouse is now close to operational readiness.
Offices Taking Shape
Inside the new head office building, the fit-out is progressing well. Office floors are taking shape, ceilings and raised access flooring are complete, and all major systems including lighting, wiring, data, power and fire are installed and operational. Servers are now commissioned and running, joinery is almost finished, and final details such as blinds and flooring will be in place shortly. The central staircase balustrade is also due to be installed, marking another step towards completion and move-in.
External Finishing Touches
Around the exterior, works such as road markings, traffic signage, speed bumps and HGV wheel stops are now in place, making the site safe and functional. Landscaping has settled in well, with greenery thriving across the site. The only exception is a mature oak tree which has needed a little extra care following the move and hot summer weather, but which we continue to monitor closely.
Looking Ahead
With much of the major work complete and final touches now going in, the new head office and warehouse are moving steadily towards completion. This new facility represents a significant investment in PFE’s future, enabling us to deliver greater efficiency and capacity while providing a modern, sustainable workplace for our people.
