Overnight the Myanmar military has seized power, ousting the Aung San Suu Kyi-led government and vowing to take charge of the country for at least the next 12 months.

We would like to inform our customers of the current situation regarding shipments from the region following the recent news. This morning, our office in Myanmar has reported that:

  • Yangon port and customs services are presently closed, but are expected to be reopened within the next 48 hours.

  • The main airport in Yangon is currently closed.

  • Our partner colleagues are working from home and are managing daily operations as usual.

  • Factories are working normally and the production schedules of factories are therefore not being impacted at present.

We will get daily updates from our partner in Myanmar and will keep you informed regarding the status of Yangon port and customs reopening, as well as any further changes to the situation regarding consignments from Myanmar and South-east Asia.

If you have any concerns regarding your shipment from the Myanmar region, please don’t hesitate to contact Aron Newton for assistance.
